Image quality and color are bad, too. It looks like it was taken with a cell phone camera or low res digital camera.

Film scans very well if you scan a transparency. Is this a scan of a print? That almost always turns out poorly.

It is a print, but the scan is from the negative. I think part of the problem stems from the fact that I pass every picture through Neat Image before processing them, and that tends to screw with some high-detail features like grass or foliage. The flip side is that if I don't do this, I'll get "excessive grain" rejections.
