PAQ - I do not agree
Team,
The picture below has been PAQ'ed. I personnaly think that this photo has a quite nice rail-related content contrary to what the Screener says.

Opinions and comments welcome.
Thanks,
Daniel

Too realistic for a steam charter crewmember, hence the rejection.
That is TIC, JIC someone misunderstands. Certainly could be included in the
context of the images you have from the runs.

I'm not seeing enough "train" to say that this is a railroad photo. Do you have a looser crop to show more of the loco?

No, unfortunately, I don't have a looser crop. For me, the picture was all about the Engineer.

"...does not contain enough rail-related content".
I would have to agree - sorry!

Hi Daniel,
Unfortunately, I agree with the others here. As currently depicted, this guy could be a U-Boat Commander. Get him in front of the running gear or the nose of the loco, and it might just be a winner here.

It is a great shot. The grime, soot, and hardened lines on the face. And I love the European hat! Far too many shots of just engines, not enough character photos of people. Oh well.

Just not a railroad picture in my mind. It's a working man with dirty hands. Nice image. Not RR enough.

This guy looks like a soviet sailor who looks like he wandered off the shoot for "the hunt for red october" back in 1989, has been living in the woods and just got rescued almost 30 years later.
I would have rejected it too

OK Gents,
I have got the message ! Nice shot, but not good enough for RP.net. I fully agree with Noct Foamer, there are not enough character photos of people on the site compared to the hundred of thousands diesel wedgies that are posted every day. People are making the railway work and should derserve a better place on the site.

I don't see anyone saying "not good enough", it just doesn't fit into the RP cookie-cutter.

I still like it and often don't agree with Daniel, yes you could move back but at some point you have a steam engine photo with a guy in it. Most of the "character" details of the face, eyes, clothing would be lost.
Yes there is not a lot of engine but I am not mistaking it for a car, airplane or battle cruiser and I don't think they wore Krommer caps in Eastern Europe.
Maybe if he had a shave, put on a green vest and had hat with the engine number on it??

I'm in full agreement with the rejection for this website, and as a semi-decent portrait photographer, I'm not exactly loving the shot from that standpoint either.

Continuing the discussion for discussion sake, I am not going to jump on an individual photo but I will take it over the portraits of the backsides of railfans with the 611 somewhere in the photo!!!

I don't think anyone (other then Loyd) said the photo was not "good enough" for RP, but just that it did not fit RP's railroad theme as captured in the composition.
As for implying it is the "cookie-cutter" guidelines of RP that force the rejection, I disagree:
