Default Cropping ideas

Hi team,

Any change to improve the cropping of this one so that it strictly follows the "holy rules of thirds" imposed by RP ??

Thanks,
Daniel

That's a tough one. Perhaps cut some off the left and put the train in the left third of the frame.

Selective enforcement again.
Predictably, shots more centered than this got accepted today.

Maybe something like this. It's the best I could come up with, but I like the original better.

I like the original too. Neat storm clouds in the background, too.

Cool

As somebody else said, a tough one. The storm sky is wonderful, the lighting really good, the station nice, and clearly an interesting subject. But that dark roof on the left is a huge distraction, and the clump of vegetation in front of the pilot does not help. Also it seems a bit soft. Very frustrating, but if it were mine I'd relegate it to my personal collection, maybe Flickr. Hopefully you got some better pix on that trip.

Do you have some later frames with the loco about ready to kiss the edge of the station bringing it farther across the photo? This in turn would also bring the steam plume across the center point filling the dead "center balance" in the top portion. There is something funky with the train in the pic vs. everything else. Maybe too much on the highlights? It sorta looks out of place.

Yes, I do have a later frame, but it is hiding most of the station. I think that just to show the train without showing the station is not worth posting here. It would just be another "standard" shot of a steam train. For me, the most interesting part of this shot is the station.

I will definitely keep this one for the personal collection.

Many thanks to all of you for your constructive comments.

Looks like you may have gone a little overboard with the shadow tool on the nose of the loco. Meanwhile, the shadowed area to the left is very dark. Something just doesn't look right to me.
