Interesting...Janusz favored Andrew's shot, yet he hasn't chimed in this thread to defend the image that everyone is dogging.

(fwiw, I like it, but that's irrelevant)

Nya ---- ha!

I've been lurking, so far this thread is pretty much a waste of time, for reasons I stated some time ago.

I sort of liked the sharp contrast between the dark black nose and the diffuse brown/gray background. And the touch of orange on the handrails, and the framing. A remote feel to it. Enough to get me to click, certainly not enough to get me to comment.

Actually, now that I look at it again, I am amazed at how blurred it is - the ballast, here the covering leaves, is my usual first test and there is nothing sharp here. BTW, I didn't know AB2 shoots a dRebel - I checked because I thought maybe he had used a P/S for this one.

This shot has similar framing, and similar light and quality issues. I'm not a fan of this one at all.

Here is another shot with poor light but an interesting composition. I could see it kicked as it could be redone on another day. Apparently the composition won over the light.

I would now say I like the shot for what it is but it does not meet RP's criteria.

My opinion, I think this is a great shot. A bit on the blurry side, but fantastic and sorta spooky scene. Can't shoot in good light... just add snow. My shot below is a bad location that doesn't get light in the AM, but add snow and the shot works.

Just to bring things around full circle, talk about how tastes are waaay subjective (and maybe change day to day?), and to be clear that I am not just in a mood to rag on AB2, I will say that I am not a fan of your shot, the composition doesn't do too much for me, but I am very much a fan of this shot by AB2 (from the same location?), which has an interesting composition and of course striking color, and yet has the same up-top light band that yours has.

I don't think anyone (except the rat) is ragging on AB, just the shot.

I was referring to my basically saying in one post that I was not a big fan of three of AB2's recent shots. That's pretty unusual!

So, what is your first act as new dictator of the group?

WOW.

I wonder if Allan knows what's in store for the group now?

You should change the group name to "Railpictures.net Fan Club" and see how many of those guys decide to comment. I'm sure that'd get you a couple laughs.

Now that I think of it, there really isn't a positive yahoo list for Railpictures.net

Change it to that and a positive, constructive outlook and I'll join.
