Default US Rail Salem, NJ operations info

Good evening,

Thought I would pass along that I unexpectedly found US Rail, the new operator of the Salem branch in southern New Jersey, heading south out of Swedesboro, NJ on Monday afternoon.

I did get a brief opportunity to speak with the crew, and they were quite nice. The operating days are still Mon-Sat, though there are not definite days that the run to Swedesboro is made. They said any of those days could find them headed north or south along the line, which led me to believe they may not be trying to make a roundtrip from Salem to Swedesboro in one day, as SRNJ did.

The power Monday was a single SW1500, 1525. They had seven covered hoppers south out of Swede, and picked up two more at Woodstown. Speed is a blazing 5 mph in most spots, as the track is just as bad as ever in most places.

They are still using the same radio frequency of 160.335 from the SRNJ days.

Hope this helps any of you interested in photographing this operation. I've heard almost nothing about how things work since US Rail took over, but for the most part, it's pretty much the same as SRNJ.
