too bad, I really like this picture. There is so much to see and quality-wise it is OK for me as well..

Not sure why it was rejected (or why a screener dubbed this as poor aesthetic quality) but c'est la vie..

It is a bit cluttered, but I think in the end you probably just lost a game of screener roulette (another screener may have taken it).

Good idea, and worth trying again. The composition needs improving, among other things the bright lights at the top of the image are distracting and angles of the shed are bothersome. I wonder if there is a vantage point to the right that would allow you to frame the scene with a more balanced shed structure, have the tracks more vertical in the image, and all the people coming right at you, with the escalators at the bottom of the picture.

If you have the pixels, try cropping those lights up top out and putting the trains more toward the right of the frame instead of exactly centered. It may not get on, but it'd be a better photograph. But, really, these types of shots tend to get either a PAQ or Top Shot of the Day. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground. I see why they rejected it though

I agree with the others, but I would also suggest color over B/W. The shot just doesn't have the sort of tonal variation that makes for interesting B/W in my opinion.

Hi Daniel,

if you process this photo again, please don't crop the iron girder with the ornaments at the top. For me that subdivides the photo and seperates the platform area from the hall. Maybe ist possible to darken the three lights a little. All in all nice shot.
Or if you can redothe shot, give it a try with a grey flow filter

When shooting a scene like this, it's always a good idea to take a second exposure for the brighter parts of the scene. The schedule board to the left (is that what it is?) is blown out, and detail in that would have helped immensely. Same goes with the lights. I agree with Micha's assessment to keep them because they include an integral part of the scene. Of course, this is only possible if you're using a tripod.

Was a tripod since there is people motion blur. The more I look at it, the whole foreground is bright but you need the exposure for the ceiling detail so like above note, a couple exposures or multiple processing in RAW???
