Leveling and Exposure

I took this photo on a recent trip to MA.

I'm not sure how to level it through. The road above the tracks is sort of an angle at least on the road surface. I've seen some previous pictures level the bridge, so I think I'll try that.

I'm not sure how it can be both over sharped and under sharpened.

I'd try leveling the NECR photo off of the bridge abutment, but the train looks like it might actually be leaning to the left in real life!

And the Amtrak photo looks more soft than oversharpened. To me, it looks more overexposed than anything.

I went back and studied some other photos of Palmer, and Google imaginary, and I flipped the direction of the bridge's lean in my head. :/ I do think the track leans a bit to the left since it's not a mainline, it might not be as well maintained.

I think your right about the over exposed now that I look at it. I reprocessed it.

The bridge got undersharpened

Now I'm pretty sure I can fix the sharpness issue on the Amtrak one tomorrow but I will have to think on how to approach the cropping.

There's too much space on the right side of the NECR photo. You could probably even it out by adding more to the left or just take some off the right.

...And the Amtrak looks better, just needs sharpening!

I went back and did some more sharpening on the Amtrak one. I have a dream to capture Amtrak during all 4 seasons on that bridge. A little Art Nueavo deal.

I wanted to show the empty CSX (ex B&A) mainline so I might try to balance it out by adding a little to the left.

That one though can wait.

Art Neuavo? Art Nouveau?

From the wiki:

A reaction to academic art of the 19th century, it is characterised by organic-- especially floral and other plant-inspired-- motifs, as well as very stylised, flowing curvilinear forms.

I've got no problem with a nice image, and it is a cool idea to have a set across the seasons, but let's not be pretentious, unless one knows what one is talking about!

That's what I think of when I hear or use that term. I guess it's bigger than that.
