Thoughts on a Reject

I got this common power/cloudy reject. The picture was taken at dusk (you can see some of the lighted areas on the ground from the machinery) and while it wasn't a perfect sunset, it wasn't exactly cloudy either. Shot was taken at 1/10 at 200 ISO. The common power, to me, isn't all that common.

Just looking for feedback if it's worth appealing or putting it in the personal files.

I'd go with personal file. The light is not attractive and the angle doesn't work for me. They could give you a going away rejection next.

I think it has potential. I might try brightening it up a bit, bump the colors. And it looks like it's leaning right a bit. Michael is right that you could still get a going away rejection, but I think its got the potential to overcome that. Personally I like the angle, just needs some additional work.

Not a fan. I think the shot is trying to do too much. On the one hand, it is a going away scenic in bad light. I think that is a no-go for RP.

But on the other hand, my complaint is different. The train is unusual. I want to figure out what it is. But the angle I have for it is tricky - it's some sort of multi-car conveyor system, I guess, and there is something going on under the conveyor, but I can't tell what. If the oddness of the train were not present, the scene would work better.

I presume the photographer did not have a choice of which sort of train showed up at that moment.

I might try to see if there's anything that can be done further in post processing. If it looks decent, maybe I'll give it a try.

J - I think it is a different "train" than the norm. I was able to get one accepted of it while it was parked, awaiting the evening crew to arrive. I was chasing a train from Yoder to the Glade City RR crossing and by the time I returned to Garrett, this guy was already on the main. The head end was under the bridge and didn't present a shot without trespassing on CSX property. The chain-link fence on the new bridge prevented getting a better shot.
