Santa Fe 3751

It seems that Santa Fe 3751 made her first voyage in years over the weekend.
Did anyone catch her over the weekend?

if you search on ATSF 3751 you will find the most recent four shots are dated yesterday, one of which is currently Top 2 of Last 24 Hours.

Despite the headlight being off I like the look of this shot

3751 is quite active by the way... it's its first voyage out in months, not years.

Insurance. Generally, if something happens and they can't get it going again, they need something to get it out of the way. Otherwise, I think the railroads reserve the right to get the engine out-of-the way by almost any means necessary (though this is just what I've heard, I might be wrong).

You won't see this with UP's steam engines because they own the engines and railroad, and thus can make their own rules.

The Amtrak locomotive also provides head-end power for the coaches and dynamic braking to help preserve the steam locomotive's tires. UP uses a power car for HEP and seems to include a diesel in grade territory.

On the outbound run, I did hear the 3751 crew tell the P42 crew to back off as the train neared Anaheim. Have a feeling they were pushing the steamer a bit too hard there.
