"Borrowed" work

Good Morning!

Found this...now I know by posting stuff on the web anyone can "borrow" our stuff but I do not like how they pulled the photographers names and put their website name on these fantastic photos.

I am sure some of you may already know but for those who don't

They were clearly taken from this site and you're right the photographer names and copyrights were removed.

I put a post on their site pointing out they are stolen. It will be interesting to see if they remove the pictures or my post!

They also have an album called "Airports Around The World." I wonder if they were hijacked from the Jet Photo's site? I'm not familiar enough with pictures on that site to be sure.

Mostly stolen from RP.Net actually.

I've gotten used to it. Put anything out there and there's a segment that will steal it for sure.

BTW, if you look at the poster's "personal website", their account has been suspended.

Personally if someome steals my pics so be it. I have had a few of mine lifted in the past. As long as no one is selling them. But the think that irked me was the removal of the photogs name and putting their website on it.

True story I work for county government and this guy came into a county commission meeting to do a presentation on commuter rail..he had "borrowed" MY pics from rp.net! Pretty funny!

I've often wondered if http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steganography is the key to protecting our images.

We could embed the copyrights into the image and they couldn't be removed. I don't know if the data can survive being copied off a website though. I'll have to try it.

Having photos stolen off the web is childs play. Have a publication use your shot illegally is a new lens!

That's very interesting - I suppose the main problems are compression, both before upload and after download.

Funny timing, just checked my email and someone sent me the same photos in a PowerPoint presentation, complete with music. Deleted same. Should have copied the address, sorry

Which photo was Jesus Christ's? I saw mine, yours, Michael's and Gary's but not his.

As for stolen images - when it's a case like this, I do not get too concerned as there was no intent to profit, simply to share. My only issue specifically is the removal of the copyright, or if that is done, then the lack of credit given (though no loss there other then bad practice). Rather then threaten or demand removal, I think it would be best interests to simply advice "Betsy" and those like her the proper method of "sharing" pictures.

I suspect that many of the web-based, photo-presentations like the one that started this thread are the product of very young people whose computer skills are way ahead of their knowledge of public law and personal responsibility. Ignorance of the law doesn't make it right, but it is easier to forgive than a case in which there is a clear intent to profit at someone else's expense.

I've been doing some more reading and I"m pretty confident in thinking stegnography would be transfered if someone right click saved your image.

You misunderstand, Mitch. By that point, Gary Knapp has obviously had a sort of second coming, and projects so much light that he can only be the son of God.

I'm working on it, but it's a land ruled by Haxzors and Linux lovers, so most of the programs are linux, or command line, or sloppily written crap, so far I have been able to find a program that does work, but unfortunately, it can only export BMP images.

I'll keep looking.
