Patriot Rail - Piedmont & Northern getting a locomotive
Just received a report that the power for this line getting ready to start up in North Carolina is ready at LTE in MacDonald, OH. GP15-1 1451 (ex NS, same number, for CR) is in full Patriot Rail colors with Piedmont & Northern lettering. Should ship soon and probably be in North Carolina around the first part of May.
Hopefully, traffic will amount to something and this reopened line can become viable under Patriot Rail's operation. I know of little other than car storage that has taken place so far.

The old P&N tracks run directly behind my house...
they worked on tracks for weeks (7 days a week) getting track ready. Word was a chemical company was going to relocate in the Ranlo area next to tracks, but chose another location. I haven't seen much activity on the tracks for the last few months.
Last thing I read in local paper; http://www.gastongazette.com/news/co...ormalized.html

Nice shot! I like it despite the sort of muck-up of stuff on the left. Did you try RP, did they ditch it for nose light?

Didn't try, I really don't try to submit anything to RP these days.

Per various posts of two YahooGroups (SE Rails and Carolina Rails) a second GP15-1 is enroute to the PNRW, #1466. One post said they were building a transfer facility near Ranlo. I don't know if this is the one mentioned a few posts up or not. FWIW, I tried my hand at shooting the unit already in Gastonia. Where they parked it was tricky due to light angles, poles and bushes, but I somehow made it work --

Don't know about a #1466, but there was a fresh PNRW GP15-1 #1434 here in Louisville,KY on 9-11-11. Looked mighty fine in that new coat of paint. Would expect it to have arrived down there by now.
