Overall, I like the rejected better but looks like in the accepted he compensated more by reducing the shadow and brightening the nose overall, yours looks a little drab in the nose. Still yours has a nice background in focus while the accepted has shallow dof and is only photo of loco nose.

Maybe if you brightened a little overall, reducing the shadow????

I'm confused as well.
Sorry, but you should be grateful the one got on. Both are too undersharpened and too square (not to mention the too big watermark).

I agree with all of this. The train is also too centered for my tastes.
