I just love railway shots with people.
I stand watching other photographers patiently (or impatiently) waiting for people to move away before they take their shot. I often think that by doing this they have wasted many opportunities for taking a great shot.
In so many cases, people add so much to the shot. They tell the story.

I normally shy away from shooting working railroaders... mostly out of respect 'cause I'd be pissed if someone did that to me at work. But this crew was pretty cool with me poking around shooting their train and you can't see his face either. This is about all I have showing a person...

One of my driver (engineer) colleagues was actually complaining the other day that he had been working a particular train all week and had not seen any pictures of it online yet!

Well, I know of some crews out there that hate it. I've a few shots on vests covering heads in the cab as the train passes by.
