Can anyone shed any light on this? I was on 10 per day but have been reduced to 2 per day. I've had about 50% of submissions accepted and much higher if you include re-submissions so I've tried politely emailing the screeners several weeks ago with no answer.

I appreciate its their choice but it just seems weird the way that it has happened.

Cheers

When they first started limiting the amount of photos one could upload daily a few years back (wow, has it been that long?), the rule was everybody had ten shots a day. If you have an extremely high ratio of really bad rejections (ie, multiple uncorrected upload or stuff that had no shot of getting on) you're number of uploads a day would drop accordingly. I vaguely remember the original ratio being something crazy like 90%, but it sounds as though its much less now.

I obviously don't know what Don's relation with the screeners are, but I'm pretty amazed that they would put any limitations on his ability to upload. Frankly, it doesn't make any sense from their perspective. Don is nodoubt on countless Top 10 Favorite Photogs list and is certainly one of the main draws to the site.

Everyone's at 2 a day unless there paying now. They talk about it on the RPElite sales page.

Scott, I believe that is incorrect, but I could be wrong. Joe would know.

I believe that those before that were grandfathered in, which is why it says "normal members." Members before about 3/09 are no longer normal.

I believe Peter is right, non-Elite members with a higher upload limit were grandfathered over. I do not have an Elite membership and still hold my 10 uploads per day.

Yeah, I've still got ten...not that I upload many more than that per year. It's nice to have if I have to rework a reject.

Mark, I am elite you can tell by just looking at me. I can still upload more than two. My understanding is that all non-elite are restricted to two.

The unfortunate thing is that you cannot get a reply from them. They state in their rules that they will reply to all e-mails. They are busy as can be look how many upload now. They have never replied to my request for appeal rights.

I personally have had a problem with those trying to tell us to turn railroad photography into an "art form." It's fine for them to do so, I welcome it in fact, but what I do have a problem with is that the practitioners of the more "arty" shots, I have found, tend to look down their nose's at others who are shooting more "mundane" shots.
Railroad photography is what you make of it, but one way is not "better" than another, IMHO. Unless you have a pole right thought the nose of the engine! -SG
