Thanks for sharing. I hang out here to talk about photos, as none of my stuff fits the plan here.

Nice article - and congrats for following through with the draft and out
into the world. Your Round-to-it is working much better then my own.

Re "vacancy," I decided that the shot was known well enough on RP and I felt I would reach, to some extent, a different audience by going to Scanlon/Tomasic. Plus, I think it is a cool site in general.

Good point.

I think? RP stories are expected to feature images that are not yet in the database too.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Janusz. I don't recall hearing about this site previously and there is a lot of interesting material there, including your shot. I added my name to the update list so I don't miss anything from now on.

Very nice J. As you know I like that image, and the story is very nicely done.

I should give that more attention. Besides time, one problem is that I desire to hit home runs instead of singles. Dealing with the hassle of getting permission to use shots is also a psychological barrier, it hinders me from taking an idea and running with it right then.

Neat blog post! It is amazing how the "well, I'm here, might as well shoot", or "why am I taking this shot?" shots wind up better than we could guess at the time.

This one: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=8590
was supposed to include the front of the locomotive, but I had forgotten to wind from the last shot. I was having unkind thoughts as I wound and just took a the shot anyway. Turns out to be one of my favorites!
