Default Cropping help?

Just got a couple rejected for bad cropping and was wondering what i should do about them.....http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...key=1092310646

This second one was nabbed for backlighting and bad cropping but i dont really see the backlighting...http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...9&key=52322945

They're cropped too tight, and the lighting's crap on all of them. The colours are dull and the shadows are unappealing. The location is also incredibly bland, which doesn't help make up for the lack of great light.
