Completely echoing what Chris has said... and besides linking, you have to consider subject matter (post a shot of something rare - no matter what the quality it is likely to get more hits than a beautiful photograph of a wide-nosed GE).
You also have to consider wreck and derailment shots, which will often skew photographers' numbers much higher.
Think about all the hits a shot of some idiot crossing in front of a moving train gets.
Think about all the hits a shot with a girl in it gets.
Lastly, there's also weird linking. I had a very ordinary shot of mine linked to by some weird porno site (to show what a commuter train looked like, apparently, even though the image was of an Amtrak). Last time I checked, there were over 5,000 hits from that link alone.
The only issue I see, Chuck, is that on the photographer drop down list, you snuck yourself in between my dad and me.

This is really interesting:
troy12n currently has 89 photos in the database. The photos have been viewed a total of 41934 times, for an average of 471.17 views per photo.
Ironically, the closest I have to this number 471 has 476 views, which is the first photo I ever had accepted to rp.net in 2008

I am at a loss to explain how some pictures get so many views, I dont link any pictures elsewhere, that may be why my views are so low on some pictures. The vast majority of my pictures are not wedgies, unlike some here.

Yes, it's crooked... I need to rescan it though as this was a small scan and would look bad rotated. Now I know, however, and will do soon.
As to my dad (miss you, Dad), his picture is ironically only a few miles from my shot, and on the same line (and of a coal train too).
