Question Station shots.

This shot was rejected for bad motive. http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=233522 What I wanted to show is the Historic Santa Fe Depot, and to compare the changes to the depot from this shot in 1988.

I explained this to the screener, but it was still rejected. My question is how can I get a station shot accepted, and what, if any, things can be improved on my station shot to get it accepted? Thanks in advance...

As you know, different screeners have different tastes. Also, his has a train in it, but yours does not...

Yes, I relize that, however many photos have been accepted with just the station in it. There is even a seperate categorie for "Stations/Terminals". So is it something wrong with the image, or the subject? Thanks,

I would say the image. There is a lot of clutter in front of the station. Maybe if you had a Coaster and a trolly in the picture it would be better.

Besides the clutter obscuring the station itself, there is little difference between the two photos. You just provided an example of 'too similar to previous photo.'

As Davies suggested, get a train in front of it.

Understood, thank you. While, there isn't MANY changes, there are a few. First, the trolley lines have been put in place, more palm trees, more tracks (that parking lot is gone), and more buildings in the backround. But as I search through the database this morning, I came across this photo

which is pretty much identical to mine, except for the lighting conditions. So because of that, I am not going to worry too much about my shot, since there is another shot of the station in the same angle. However, stations shots do get accepted without trains. Thanks for your help everyone.

I submitted another photo of a railroad station, but it also got rejected for Bad Motive. http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=234236 How does one get a station shot accepted?

The shot still has to meet RP standards to get into the database. I see station shots all the time in here. I've got one somewhere with no train in it anywhere, but it meets their criteria.

If I were doing this, I'd focus more on details of architectural features than the whole structure.

Here is one I did at Hoboken terminal years ago.

Maybe try something along these lines... one of those towers against the blus sky, or silhouette it in a sunset.

JMHO.
