Default California--Los Angeles area next week!!!

Hi guys!!
I just wanted to drop you'all a quick line to tell you that I am going to be going to Los Angeles next week, and plan to spend some time railfanning in the Fullerton area, just to mention a few places. What is the best time of day to shoot at the Fullerton Amtrak Station? Anaheim? Pasadena? All comments/input/etc. very much appreciated!!!

Hey, you went all the way out there to shoot UP. I'm sure you were just experiencing homesickness for the Illinois Sub.

Amtrak is the best to some people.
I personally have very little interest it. It's the same everyday!

I went there to shoot Raptors and Vipers (formerly known as Fighting Falcons)...the UP was just a necessary evil when shooting near The Loop...

I plan to make it out to Tehachapi & Cajon Pass, to name just a few places, to shoot whatever "strikes my fancy" over my 10-day stay. BTW, how safe is it to be at the Fullerton Amtrak station at night? I can see the potential to get some good night shots there!!

Amtrak in SoCal is different. We have some pretty unique equipment like Pacific Surfliners that you can only find in SoCal. Fullerton Station is pretty safe at night. A lot of train watchers roam the area.

I've shot a Surfliner twice in Minnesota.

Was it really a full Surfliner trainset? Or was it just a Surfliner F59PHI?

No, it was just a F59PHI. If it was the whole trainset in Minnesota, well, that might be an Amtrak actually worth chasing.
