On BNSF's Scenic Subdivision:
Incident 1: teenagers in a minivan struck at a grade crossing (a protected crossing w/ gates and lights)
Incident 2: trespasser lying
between the rails
Both incidents were about 20 miles and 4 hours apart
Two train vs. people incidents in one day on the same line. Crazy. Me, Ross Fotheringham, and Steve De Vight were all out railfanning together yesterday and we wondered why the first train involved, the daily Z-CHCSSE, never came though. That would be our answer...
To add to this, I was at a beach in Edmonds on Friday night and the Snohomish County parks ranger kicked me and some others out of the park after dark. One was a group of drunken teenagers and the ranger
encouraged them to walk back to their car on this same BNSF line, just as long as they were out of the park. They weren't hit by any trains but I'm giving the County a call tomorrow.
