OK, since when was THIS considered standard power?!

A trio of F-units and two GP7s sitting in the yard in Emmett, ID today, the F-units reflected in the water. Rejected for being cloudy. I know cloudy shots are generally frowned upon, but this is hardly standard power or a common angle IMHO. Thoughts?

Well, it is a cloudy day shot, but not a bad one. Even if you never get it on RP, it's still a keeper for your personal collection. I would re-crop and lose some of the non-pertinent stuff on the left side. In my mind, everything from the safety cone to the left edge just detracts from the main subject, which is a decent reflection of an F-Unit.

Theoretically I could, but I don't go up through that town very often. Oh well, as mentioned by Kevin, it's a great one for the personal collection.

Cloudy/common also applies to subjects that can be reshot in good light, regardless of whether you personally have the time to go do so.

RP screeners also don't always have the same idea of what "common power" is than you might depending on what you see all the time versus what is more rare.

This was rejected for same reason but accepted on appeal.
There were a lot of photos of this train so F unit or not it was common.
There was sun but train was in the shadow, so the original rejection was correct.

Yours: someone no longer posting would always talk about verticals. Seems like you could almost crop into f-unit vertical and the cloudy sky would mostly go away.

The potential problem there is whether or not the equipment will be in the same positions, AND whether or not he'll have that nice puddle for the reflection. From my perspective (as a non-diesel guy ), no reflection, no shot.

I tend to agree with Robert Jordan re the vertical crop option, but it may then have more of an unlevel look to it (leaning right)? You may need just a bit more on the right edge though for the vertical option.

Stumbled upon these units a couple of years ago in Horseshoe Bend, ID. The lighting was craptastic so I didn't even bother to pull out my camera. Got a few lousy iPhone shots instead.

I think the cloudy/common power rejection needs to be 2 separate rejections both are specific to their own issue. Thus eliminating the rejection confusion that creates threads like this one.
