Mine developed a mind of it's own, so to speak...I increase the shutter speed, it decides to decrease it. It'll randomly change the ISO to 1600 or whatever it wants. But, don't be discouraged - this is the only instance of that kind of problem I've seen/heard of with the XT. Most will go to 100,000 shots without hesitation, so long as you aren't using them to prop up the corner of your bed or playing soccer with it. But hey, not every instance of a soldier of a model will be perfect (aka I'm sure Toyota has made a few lemons, and I'm sure Kia produced some cars back in the early 90s that went 300,000 miles...).

Ive had my XT for 70,000 + shots now, never been "flaky". But I recently got a 30D and there are some obvious differences between the two, the biggest being better AF.


If I had $250 to spare I would probably buy the XT that is for sale and then convert it to infrared.




Also, to the OP selling the camera, have you tried selling it at a local college or on Craigslist?

I still use my rebel 300D as a back up camera, checkin a number of both local (Craig's list) and other on line sites the 300 is going for $250-$300 for body only. You might like to reconsider and wait till you can afford it using the camera as a back up. I still use my camera like when I catch a shot like below.
