When I started Conrail had been gone for a year, now I see Crapfish after Crapfish...

Then again, I spent the last few days on the D&H as well as the albany area and saw:

1 CR SD60I (I pretty much count Conrail as another railroad now since it's getting rare around these parts)
1 LMSX C40-8W
1 CN SD75I
1 CN SD40-2W
1 NS Dash 9
1 D&H GP38-2
2 AMTK P32AC-DM's
1 CSX B36-7

and...

2 BNSF C44-9W's

It's a real shame when you see more BNSF than NS, and look who's saying that...

Rare indeed, at least on CSX there are only 2 Conrail painted SD60I's left, 8750 and 8751 if my memory serves me correctly.

Not sure about NS.

There are alot more on NS. Don't have an exact number but I thing there are about 25.

In response to the last couple of posts about the SD60I...

If you're a CSX and NS fan, I recommend picking up Paul Withers' CSX and NS '04-'05 locomotive directories. (each sold separately) They have every diesel on each RR's roster as of 12-31-04.

They really come in handy as far as building dates, paint schemes, heritages, specifications, etc.

I rely on them quite often when verifying information.

My only question, is what the difference between an SD60I and a SD60M is...
I guess I'm still looking for a recent copy of Kalmbach's Contemporary Diesel Spotter's Guide...my copy dates back to 1989.

The only difference is the SD60I has a grove running up and over those nose. This is called an "isolated cab".

Also, the purpose of the isolated cab is to reduce noise, I've heard that when they were new, you had to have the window open to hear the horn.

Right after my post, I went on a quest to find out the difference, and I found this book at my local hobby shop. It's a 2000 edition, but it's up to date enough for me!

Not quite the only spotting difference. The SD60I and SD60M's door is on opposite sides of the nose from each other.
