Default New MKT paint

Yeah, that's what I think of when I hear 'Katy...'

Nice job, UP. Can't wait to see how you monkey up the remaining Heritage units!

Wow...my monitor here at work must be screwed up. That thing looks red to me. Now where's that monitor calibration program...........?

P.S. Makes me glad they're not doing the T&P (my Grandad's old RR). They'd probably do it in purple.

That looks sweet.I like how UP designes a new paint scheme for every Heritage unit.

Notice how there isn't any tarp on it..........I guess its not a secret anymore like it was when the first engines came out.

Personally, I like this new scheme.

It kind of reminds me of the old Coca Cola label.

Actually, this one looks pretty neat, I think. The artistic edge they are taking is growing on me. The intent is not to bring back an old paint scheme exactly as it was, but to spiff it up and give it some variety.

As far as the remaining heritage units, though, I have said it before. They already have CNW, SP, SSW, and DRGW units running around. Keep them that way. That's the heritage fleet, although that would go against the artistic trend set by the first three.

The MKT unit is completley different from what i thought it was gonna be. Personally i like the one they came out with better than the one i pictured (green/yellow). I really like the creative artisticness to the heritage fleet, i like how it the paint combines all the element that made that railroad great. I am looking forward to seeing the last couple units.

I like it, it is very artistic. But I wish that UP would actually do something that more portrays the railroad when UP took it over. I was hoping for the green and yellow that my mind associates with the MKT.

i think that UP should make about 5 designs and put them on railpictures.net then we vote .
as they should first know the opinions of railfans

I thought it looked pretty good too, considering my dissatisfaction with the previous two. I got photos from all different angles, but I didn't post any to RP.net due to technical difficulties, so they're going on my website... look for a link to the album shortly...

Yeah, so? The MKT's locomotives WERE red, until the 1970's. They looked better than the green and yellow ones, too in my opinion (not that the green and yellow ones looked bad). I do like how diagonal stripes on the heritage unit elude to the green and yellow scheme. I only wish they would have put the Katy herald on the front, like on MKT's red locomotives, instead of the star.

Well i suppose as my first post i will start a riot LOL. First let me say the new "heritage" (yeah what a contridiction that is...and dont mind my spelling)...paint schemes are Nice in their own little way. However!!!! I consider them to be rather insulting to the actual "Heritage" of the real railroads they are meant to portray! As far as i can actually see...the only thing that Uncle Pete is actually using is the logo! The actual paint colors are off by miles...of course i could be wrong on that since they are still clean. But it will be interesting to see how they Rape the C&NW, Rio Grande, and the Southern Pacific. All i can say is...when they do the SP unit...if they go with some horrid manipulation of the "Daylight" scheme on that engine...dont be surprised when it makes its way onto NS property that a certian NS engineer who had the dream of working for the SP VOMITS all over it LOL!!!! Not that i would do anything like that HAHA. Well ok im done ranting for now.

Peace J.
