Too much or not enough?

This one got dinged for color saturation. In looking at the turntable wheelhouse and lampshade, I'm thinking it needs a bit more saturation, but I could go either way. What say you?

everything has a yellow tint.

I'd suggest a full work over on the shot while you're at it. It's soft, noisy, and needs some contrast work. I fear once you fix the yellow tint, you'll be in line for another rejection.

Watermark ruins that photo as well IMO.

Few things I noticed... that hazy brings about a real lack of clarity. If you have a filter on your lens, take it off as you've got a few lens flare(green spots) issues. Agree with Warren, the watermark is quite distracting, as it is for me on almost every photo I've seen with them... almost as bad as the date/time stamp.

Agreed on the watermark. Made a similiar comment just now on another thread which I'm sure will go over well. Agreed also on the yellow tint. But the shot needs some sharpening. I'm not a big fan of the cropping either. You cut some of the turntable off on the sides and the over hang from the top. Could you have gone wider?

Thanks to all. Being pretty new to digital, I am still toward the bottom of the learning curve in terms of processing. Accordingly, I have decided for the reasons detailed by Loyd L to eighty-six this shot for the time being until I become more proficient with post-processing, at which time I'll give it another go.

As for the watermark issue, we'll have to agree to disagree. A thread on Trainorders about a month ago featured a bunch of pics that were pirated from this site, proving (to me at least) the need for watermarks. They just don't bother me as much as they bother some on this site, but maybe its me - camera motor drives getting picked up on video bothers me a lot less than it bothers other people, too.

Why are you going to wait on post processing instead of using tis shot to learn? It's like learning how to drive a car. You have to actually do it to learn. About copyright issues, people have illegally used my shots with the copyrihgt on it and they've used my wife's RP shots with the black bar. I hate watermarks with a passion and won't favorite, comment or PCA shots with big watermarks.

Ditto on that Joe. I will never understand how a photo of mine may get rejected for a dust spot, but you can put that darn watermark across the sky. There should be a watermark reject.

I'm not waiting on processing, I'm waiting on posting the shot until I learn some, for the reason you describe. After I get it looking better I'll submit it again.

Having just taught my little brother to drive manual shift, I can fully appreciate your analogy.

Hold the concerns about the saturation, and address the fact that the image looks out of focus. You also have some lens flare issues.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but your wife has some photos on RP? Please share for curiousity's sake. I know of Bennifer (speaking of, where have they been lately?), W.D. Shaw and JubyBlueEyes, the Zollitch's, the Cottrells, and I'm sure there are a few more that I am missing. But, I didn't realize Mrs. Joe was a contributer too.

She was taking photographs before I was actually, but mainly of family, her cats and flowers, that sort of thing. The only serious rail photography she's taken was almost six years ago of an L&C dinner train that I was aboard --

Shot with my Elan 7. We need to get those slides rescanned.

That's silly. Watermarks are irrelevant to the quality and content of the image.
