Default Northwest Ohio Adventure (8 photos)

My first time venturing up to the railfan hotbed around Deshler / Fostoria / Toledo Ohio. I had a great time photographing in a completely different environment than I am used to. I especially wanted to document sunrises and sunsets on the flat lands, and the weather was decently cooperative for me. From Wednesday morning until early Friday Afternoon we saw around 114 trains, and photographed 51 of them. Here's a few I wanted to share:

Sunrise at South Deshler

One of the hot EB Q trains at Godsend

EB Stacks on the NS Fostoria District outside of Leipsic.

Predawn sky at the diamond in Leipsic

WB coke train, again at the diamond in Leipsic

Crossing the Maumee River in Toledo

Sunset at the CSX intermodal facility in North Baltimore, Ohio

Predawn at Miller City, with a Nickel Plate signal standing guard.

I have a much better understanding why Ohio draws in so many railfans. I had a great time, and even though it's not as geographically interesting as some other areas, you can still work up some decent photos. I will go back.

Jeez, I had no idea some of these spots were up there. Awesome pics, though.

All of these shots are nice, but the first and fourth shots are the real deal. Awesome!

Where's all the decaying buildings, trash, rust, drug dealers and homeless people that encompass what Ohio is all about?

One has to go a little further east out of the cornfields to find that wholesome goodness.
