Hello everyone, to save myself a submission I wanted to show this on the forums and ask if I should consider giving it a try or not. The photo is attached.

Noooo.
There's a lot of reasons why the composition just doesn't work, but at least you're trying.

A horizontal crop w/o the sign might work, but with it, its frickin' dead.

Ian, come on! The sign in the foreground is in the shade. It obstructs most everything of interst in the shot. At least blur the background if you're going to try this.

Well hence why I wanted opinions; I have plenty more shots, but I am doubtful of submitting any.. Here's a pic.

Much better. Needs to be more room in front of the loco on the right and I'd like to see all of the 7211.

Ian, that shot with the sign blocking the train is not typical of you. You're usually a much better photographer than that! But IMG 1485 is much better.

You can't see all of 7211 due to other equipment in front of it.

Better to have the equipment cut off the loco than the edge of the frame. And as Joe said, too tight on the right.

Hey, he did the right thing.

Nothing wrong with exploring....

But no, it is too busy and the sign doesn't mean anything to me.

If you are going to do something like that, the main subject - which here is the sign needs to be recognizable to your viewer.

And the second shot has no real focal point.
