Question Rejected for shaprness(soft)

Hello all I submitted this and was rejected for sharpness< (not a problem).
As I'm new to this I would appreciate any help to make it better, and any other things that I could do also. I have photoshop elments 7.
Thanks very much Jason

The smoke I think could especially use some sharpening... and your snow is a little overexposed, I think.

Could use some sharpening and maybe a little contrast.

The shot on Picasa was hard to see so don't want to say its over sharp but maybe is. Down below click on (go advanced) and put up a full sized one that we can see better.

The issue really should have been BLURRY. Overexposing probably did this. I don't know what your settings were but overexposing tells me you used a slower shutter speed. A slower shutter speed + smoke billowing out of stack = blurry smoke. I can a bit of blurry on the loco itself, not much, but you can notice it. Dunno if it's salvageable or not.

Hey Jason -

Looking on my desktop now and not the notebook - the Picasa image looks like you may have gone a bit extreme in your sharpening.

Looking at the rejected image, it's hard to say if it's soft or maybe, as suggested, a bit blurry.

Do you know what settings you were using when you took the shot? Or if it was "A" automatic, do you have settings (EXIF) info available? Ie; shutter speed, aperture and ISO.

As Milwman suggested - maybe you can post here on the Forums so we can see it larger.

/Mitch

Now the question is, if Jason ever gets his shot right, will the screeners reject it because a similar shot is already in the DB?

Looks like you just got snaked, Jason.
