Don't let creeps like this spoil our hobby by everyone starting to put watermarks on their photos, or worse yet, stop posting. The web, just like the rest of life, has it's share of sicko's and creeps. Ignore them.

For those who have had photos stolen I would recommend contacting Flickr's copyright infringement department (Yahoo Inc.) at copyright@yahoo-inc.com detailing what is happening.

I emailed Yahoo yesterday when Walter pointed this out to us however I was told the actual owner of the photos would need to contact them in order to have the issue resolved. I will include their reply and case number below.

I thought this dude sounded familiar. Back on 9 January of this year, I got a RailPictures.net contact from him asking about how he might find his way onto a charter operated by the guy who is famous for doing Cass trips. I might actually get to meet the photo thief himself in few weeks.....

I have a photo.net account and I will drop a complaint in there somewhere with a link to this thread.

EDIT: I decided that, as my shot was only used at shuttercal, I would put my complaint there, and so I have.

And here is the shot, might as well get a bit more glory out of it.

I received a e-mail from Ray.

I asked them to take my account down - most of the pics are mine. But the
temptation was there. I caved in to it. I am arrogant and disingenuous.

I sent a note to the owner of this photo club with a link to this posting. If my local club had someone in it who was stealing photos, there would be quite the uproar. It's one thing to go after this guy himself, but folks associated with him on a photographic level need to know that he is not on the up and up.

Too bad there was no conductor around. At least get the story right...

My photos have been removed from the calendar thanks to an email I sent through the 'Legal Stuff' link. They also said they will keep an eye on him...whatever that means.

Yeah, I think it would take a lot of effort on his part to steal the pictures in the first place. One was posted on 3 galleries and even his myspace.

I got the same thing, I sent him an email even though he didn't steal any of my stuff; but I dislike thief's and liar's intensely.

Hmmm... Based on what I can see, his "flickr.com" page is gone too. Not sure if the Yahoo People took action or if he pulled the account down himself.

BTW, all of the pictures I've seen of the guy did look like the one of him standing on the pilot of the 15 at Steamtown. If he really wanted to look cool in that shot, he needed filthier gloves!
