If you are in the Illinois area this weekend, September 19 & 20, the Monticello Railway Museum in Monticello, Illinois is running its annual Railroad Days event. It is a great photo shooting opportunity.

Displays will include NS F units, the new Leviathan steam locomotive, Wabash F-7A, CN FPA-4 and a host of other classic locomotives and rolling stock. Many of these units are operational.

The museum is a well run volunteer organization. The daily cost is $12 for adults and $8 for kids. There is a night photo session for an additional $25 on Saturday evening starting at 6:30pm. Fairly reasonable I think.

So if you're tired of shooting wedgies and you are looking to work on some creative shots this might be the answer for a nice weekend in September.

I was thinking of heading that way but now have to work Saturday so calling off a plans to go. Just to far to make a one day.
