Get anything RR-related for Christmas?

Did any of y'all get RR-related junk for Christmas? As for me, I did really well. I got a Uniden BC72XLT scanner (FINALLY), a "Worldwide Encyclopedia of Locomotives," and hand warmers, RR-wise. On top of that my first ever white Christmas, and the first in my hometown since 1963. And here I am, I just sold my DSLR yesterday. Maybe I will go out with the P&S Monday.

I got a calender from my aunt and $500 which will probably end up getting spent on photo gear. It could very well end up helping me buy a 24-105L.

Not a whole lot rail-related, but I did get a couple of magazines and two very good D&H books. Also I got some cash that will more than likely be used to fund new glass and a few big trips over the next couple months.

I got a couple magazine subs, the Trains at Work Calendar, and some money that will hopefully fund some new camera equipment, and my model railroad.

And that's probably the only reason why I wish I still lived back in the Upstate again...
I was at my Grandparents house in Belton for Christmas Dinner and it started sticking to the ground at around 5pm so that was my sign to head back to Augusta. Depending on how much snow we get here, I might have to head back up there to get some snow action RR shots.

Switching to Canon, and it decides to snow like the first moment I don't have my camera. Man! Yeah, maybe you could come up to the NS Greenville District here on Monday morning. Looks like we'll have about 3 inches.

Why? Bad experiences with Nikon? I've really never heard of any negative comments about either manufacturers.

Just one rail related DVD that looks to be pretty good. I think everyone has finally learned to stay away from the cheesy rail related stuff.

I asked for Brian Solomon's book on CSX. It might be a birthday gift in a fes months though. Either that or Jeff Hawkins Richmond book. With the PS3 and 42 inch TV, there was no more green for what I really want -- new camera gear!

And a great story teller as well. I had never heard of him until a year ago or so, and then had the pleasure of hearing him speak at the railroad photography conference last April at Lake Forest. I could have listened to his stories for hours.

After admiring his photos for years, it was startling to find he how good a story teller he is.

I have read hundreds of books and thousands of words on railroading. Of all of these, the best story I ever read was in Plowden's book, "A Time of Trains."

I got a handful of books by the C&O Historical Society and some money to apply towards camera gear.. Other than that, primarily thankful for the white Christmas!

I am a fan of Jeff Hawkins' Virginia rails website and have corresponded with him in the past, he seems like a nice guy and is full of info. I did not know he had books either though.

To the OP's question, I did not get any RR related stuff, I did get quite a bit of useful stuff like socks/underwear and some household supplies (TP/soap/etc)

No books on the introduction of the SD60 or how the warbonnet became a popular paint scheme?

What about Photoshop CS5 with it's all new Content Aware and Snow Filter settings?

I actually would like CS5, but CS3 is fine for me at this point.

To the snow point, I googled "photoshop snow filter" and found a webpage which I followed step by step to do up my quick 5 minute fake Florida blizzard photo, lol. I had no idea it was that easy.

I got a new scanner. My last one was a Christmas gift in the mid 90's. Went from 100 to 200 channels. More fun sitting track side.
