Anyone going to Spencer in May?
I am considering going. I have been to the facility before, but not for one of these "mega foam" events.
I am curious to get some input to anyone who went to NS Heritage unit foamfest there a couple summers ago. I am assuming this will be as crazy or worse.
1. how bad is it (crowded/foamers off their meds)
2. how do they do photo lines, or do they even do them?
3. how much access do you get? I assume they rope a good amount of the area off
Any input is appreciated.

From all they learned at the heritage event, I would imagine things will go a bit smoother this time around. I know the museum is excited. As you can see from that page, they have a tally going on all the engines that have RSVP'd for the event.

Dogs?
I'll be there - always have been a fan of streamliners.
I'd like to see that list grow - Streamliners are more then just E's and F's!

Also FWIW, N&W 611 will also be down there. Maybe you might be able to see her as she is getting a refurb by the craftsmen at Spencer.

I'd guess they are going to have her displayed front and center for the event. This does do a lot to change my mind about going.

Yea, it's official, 611 is going to be there.
Does anyone know if they will put a cap on tickets? I plan on attending, but would like the option of buying day-of in case the weather is going to be total SUCK and I dont end up making the trip. That's too far to drive to be in a miserable rainstorm.

I was seriously considering it, but I've been checking air fares for awhile and they've just been too high.

So t-minus 6 days, who's going to MEGAFOAMFEST2014?
Barring mechanical failure of my truck, I will be there.

Schedule a book signing nearby, write off the trip as a business expense!
I figure it's gonna cost me about $250 in gas round trip if gas prices dont get too stupid. Prices still going DOWN here, which is really atypical for Memorial Day weekend

We're staying consistently around $3.70 to $3.80 here.

I filled up last Wednesday in anticipation of the typical BS holiday weekend gas price hikes, and it didn't come... topped off this morning at 3.41, not complaining

I hope everyone has a good time. I'll enjoy not being in that madhouse.

So... did everybody that went have fun?
It met expectations for me. Except for the weather, but thats out of everyone's hands.
Ran into several railpictures people, and probably others who I didnt know what they looked like. Saw Chase Friday morning but didn't want to interrupt his conversations with whomever he was talking to at the time, and didnt run into him again.
Any of you have the drone which was flying around at night?

I debated going, but I don't do well in crowds anymore, I sometimes get major anxiety attacks after some experiences overseas, so I try to avoid large crowds in tight confines like NCTM.
Plus, I prefer to catch that stuff "in the wild" if possible. Events like that are like going to the zoo, yep, you can see lions and tigers, but they all look depressed and resigned to their fates.

I enjoyed it greatly. It may have been like a zoo, but just like I won't see elephants, lions and giraffes roaming in their natural habitat, I wasn't going to see many of those streamliners again either, not living in South Carolina. Much better than Foamstock and I hear the next one is going to be even better. I'm getting steamed already!

Yea, according to a couple people I talked to, they are gonna do something similar when 611 is ready.
I guess if they can pull something like that off every few years, its good for the hobby!
Number 1 on my list next time if I go is to wear more comfortable shoes. And not puss out when it starts drizzling... Friday night I left when it started raining, apparently it stopped right after I left
