What's going on here?

The sheeps look like pasted there and even the last cars seem so. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.

It might be that but look at the roof of the last cars. I can't figure that out.

The last cars look like loaded lumber cars to me. No roofs. I agree with Loyd, he went a little heavy with the shadows and highlights. I love Dash 7s!

I mean the cars right behind the logs, the grain cars, something is wrong with their roofs.
I love those GE's too. In fact our newest locomotives are dash-7's!

I see nothing wrong with any of the consist. Log cars are fine, the 2 grain cars are fine, the cars behind them are woodchip cars that are loaded, and fine. Behind the woodchip cars are centerbeam flat cars in which the last two are not fully loaded, and they are fine.

I think he is referring to the orange-ish woodchip piles sticking up above the tops of their cars. Artifact of processing seems a reasonable hypothesis, they do look a little funny.

They look normal to me. Woodchip hoppers are commonly tapered several feet above the top of the car.

It's not the shape, Loyd, it's the monotone color and the fact that the block of color is solid across all the carloads. They almost look like someone dabbed solid orange there. It just looks odd - not odd in the sense of someone mucked with the image, rather odd the way an illusion can be. Lacking in detail and definition.

The much greater oddity is the white outline around the individual sheep, gives them almost a glow and a bit of a leap off the page.

I think it all boils down to a poorly processed photo, which isn't representative of what a Canon 5d should be capable of.

Exactly, but now I see what Lloyd says, the woodchip cars are loaded over the top, that's where the glow comes from.
I'm not at ease with the sheeps either but weird processing seems to explain it.

The sheep are slightly out of the focus plane, that's why they look out of place.
