Although we've known about the US Steel Fairfield Works converting from an integrated steel mill (that is, one making new steel from raw materials) to an electric arc furnace (that is, melting scrap ala Nucor mills), now this news comes in:

This will leave the Fairfield Southern (Transtar's switching operation at the Fairfield Works) with little traffic, and also impact Watco's Birmingham Terminal Railway. These lines are the split of what was formerly the singular Birmingham Southern Railway.
