I like "gallery" threads but for some reason this one just isn't grabbing my attention. Our own top views, top favorites, top comments. Those are the easy shots to find. I like gallery threads that help me run across the hidden gems.

Chris, I also wish the default was not to favorite a shot one is commenting on; it is always an extra step to un-mark the box.

You can still find gems by people posting their favorited photos. I found a gem the other day in a post. Isn't that fun!

All I am saying is that I am more likely to find a particular kind gem, namely, one that I am not yet aware of, by doing a category other than what is most popular by some measure. I already have seen many of the most popular.

I want the gems I don't know about. I can and do look at most popular, favorited, etc. Give me what I haven't seen, and lots of it!

To add more interest, the top two favorited tend to follow most viewed, but then after that the two measures don't match up as well:

It's a little interesting that number of views and most favorited don't correlate well. I can think of a couple reasons like 'arty' types of photos that get favorites but not views or other situations where you might have a stronger attraction from a more limited audience. Anyway, just a further consideration on this idea.

Actually, while a trawling ship catches fish with a trawl, a large conical net dragged along the sea bottom, an individual can also fish by trolling, by pulling a lure through the water.

I usually have strong respect for the police but, as with all else, there are good examples and bad examples.

I made a post about this shortly after the favorites feature was implimented. Apparently it's going to take a lot more people asking to have that default changed to an unchecked box before it actually is.
