Default Whats a dinky?

In the caption for this pic "A westbound Dinky prepares to stop at the station in LaGrange as a commuter talks on his cell phone, the Sears tower is to the left of the dinky" what is meant by Dinky???

its a slang term used to describe commuter trains,, RDC's, ect....I would guess that it has something to do with the length.....I have also heard them called scoots, and jitneys....

my wife calls me dinky, but for reason I will not go into here...

BN used this term for their commuter trains. I guess it just stuck over the years.

Chris Starnes used dinky a lot in his captions for our Metra trains. Some of the expresses aren't dinky though, they can get up to 11 cars!
