Its in the white building in the background. The other issue is it would get dinged for high sun with or without the grainy issue.

there's a little grain in the sky, but a lot of heat distortion. they hate that. could use some cropping, but that will worsen the grain/distortion.

It's in the Silos (the grain)
but on a serious note, it looks like heat distortion across the horizon, look at the semi tractor on the right, and the color is a little off too, was it one of those hot humid hazy days?

There's a tie right in front of the train, distracting.

I'm not putting down your opinion, really, after all, this is a subjective hobby, but it did take me a few seconds to figure out that what you meant, I think, is that tie end that is slightly clipping the pilot of the lead engine. That little thing is distracting?

Not just you, its all of us, but sometimes we miss the woods for the trees. Or some such. Easier to do in this shot, given the lack of full appeal due to high sun and heat distortion.

And no mention of the nasty reflection off the truck on the left side, which to me is the one truly distracting element.

The place seems to have more potential then the shot shows. The fence is pretty distracting too IMO. Is there a way you can get closer to the tracks and tellymash, get the silos and the signals and you should have a nice shot. Just an idea.

If I had a ladder I could have cleared the fence even more, but I was standing on an old baggage platform. As for the location there is no way to get a better shot (ie no fence) without trespassing. Here is another shot about 10 minutes earlier, is it any better?
