Default Where would you guys go with this one?

I was just wondering in terms of cropping pretty much. I was thinking of cutting the building off on the right and having the train and the skyscraper in the background be in the bottom right.

I also know that it's underexposed. So is the best way to fix that just to brighten it? I'm in GIMP by the way.

I'll leave the cropping to someone else, but to me, it doesn't seem to be overexposed so much as it appears to be a bit flat and lacking in contrast. Bump that up a bit, and it might look a little better.

Ah. Yeah, that makes sense. I'd bump the middle levels slider to the left a bit.

For what is a roster shot, the loco should be closer to the lower right ROT. You will have to cut off the building on the right. Also the histogram is bad: it needs brightening up to compensate for the bad light. Sharpen too.

I don't know about the cropping, but on top of being underexposed it looks like you got cloud-cocked. Maybe just some thin haze or the edge of a cloud, but it looks like you're lacking full sunlight.

So, now how would I crop it better?

Crop to the signal box on the left. Take the same amount off of the top to balance it out. Then crop a little off of the right and a little off top and bottom to keep it in the bottom third.

Don't take that much off the left. Crop just to the left of the second steeple (I think that's what it is) and take some off the top.

You should probably do something with the contrast and saturation as well, as it looks a bit flat. Probably from the cloud-filtered sunlight.
