Well, in attempt to get this "pissing" contest, highly rated drama, most popular television program this season back on topic, CSX 5500, the "unofficial" Spirit of Cincinnati has also received the downgrades.

She can now be classified as an "ES40DC"..

Okay, It went from a disscussion about CSX es40dc's to EMD vs. GE.

Note not every railfan loves EMDs, not every railfan loves GEs.

From the few times I have been in a locomotive, both GE and EMD, and the short time I was privileged to be at the throttle, both GE and EMD, I have formed an opinion, and I was simply expressing it with no intention of making anyone infuriated or to say that I know as much or more than those like TheRoadForeman or trainmaster_1 who actually make a living operating all types of locomotives, lashups and consists. I thank JRMDC for at least trying to see that I wasn't trying to attack anyone's knowledge, put anyone down or raise myself up. The pros know the best for a reason; it's what they do, and they're supposed to know what they're doing. And we all have our opinions, and we have all expressed ours, for better or for worse. I'm sorry for ever bringing up my opinion of locomotives, and if I would have known it would anger this many people, I would have kept my "BS" opinion to my own self.
Nor did you claim to in the first place. I don't see why everyone's going brezerk here. I honestly thought it was sarcasm when Violet Skies commented and if it wasn't, well , to each his own. Anyhow, very well said Violet Skies.

The problem is that with several minutes of run time in a particular model/brand is NOT enough time to form a constructive opinion. Also, without knowing the actual physics of what he is doing makes his opinion nothing more than pure speculation at best. In fact, ask most engineers what they like better between brands and the answers will range from better seats to how good the heat/ac works, not actual mechanical performance. He should have kept his opinion to which brand looks better, not his deluted idea as to which brand performed better.

Buddy, 99% of railfan chatter is based on speculation!

As of yesterday, 5393 is an ES40DC too.
