Given his age, I'd think I'd have bumped into him in 1995, 1997 and/or 1999 when I spent a week each year enjoying Conrail on the Westslope. I do not recall having to fill out a permission slip to shoot big blue, so I couldn't have.

Not sure what's wrong with it, but when you view it, it will move to one, but as soon as you refresh, it goes back to zero. Probably the only photo with more comments than views!

For every accepted photo that is somewhat controversial around here, behind it is a photographer that has paid their dues. Photographers earn the right of the benefit of the doubt, simple as that. Any body who comes on here thinking they are the next big thing and starts posting things that don't fit the criteria here and complains about it is out of line. Consistent quality posting will earn the right to post things that stretch the envelope.

As least as far as I can tell. And it took me a while to realize it.

I agree fully with Wayne here. He's something else. I'm still surprised he's continuing to complain about RP.

With all due respect, thanks to some of you, a "group" that had over its entire history gone over one post PER MONTH exactly one time (three!!!) has now seen 29 posts so far in March.

None of my business, I guess, but was this group really worth the attention? Is Valentine really worth this much effort? You have turned an isolated loser into someone getting tons and tons of attention, however negative. I bet he is, in his own way, reveling in it.

The worst part about it is that coward called me out on that forum and when confronted by me, he comes back with a reply that is a complete fail. He has NOTHING to back up the garbage he was spewing forth about me. He doesn't even have the balls to read or reply to my private emails to him, deleting each one as he receives them. He's a whiny little coward. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well, yes and no. I think when someone's brain has derailed this bad though and comes to the conclusions and conjures up conspriacy theories in his head like he has, it's worth the attention simply to see what he'll say next. I am anxiously waiting until he blames Chris Starnes for the 9/11 attacks as a way to divert attention while he monopolizes the railroad photography hobby...

The funniest part of the whole thing is his obsession with the belief that somehow we're "running out of web space."

First of all, we're not running some little cracker box server that's shared with 50 other customers and bursting at the seams. RailPictures/JetPhotos run on an interlaced private rack made up of 3 frontend and 2 backend servers. The RailPictures images drive (and mirrored backup) has only filled up 60% since the site's inception:

# df
# /***3 240308484 141629376 96237712 60% /images

That's a UNIX print showing the drive (total bytes, used space, free space, percentage used). Assuming my math is correct, that means we have another 200,000 or so accepted images before the drive even reaches 95% full.

Second, "web space" is not a finite commodity. I could have a 1tb (1024gb) drive thrown into the server tomorrow for $299.95 if need be. The current drive should be able to hold about 450,000 images in total. After that, for the huge sum of $600.00 (one production, one backup drive), we could increase that capacity to well over 2 million photos.

To put things very bluntly, hardware costs are so low these days (especially for voluminous SCSI drives) that running out of disk space is the absolute last thing any serious website owner would ever need to worry about.

As much as I hated to waste any more time on this idiot, the satisfaction of giving him a virtual b*tch slapping more than makes up for the 5 minutes I'll never have back after writing this post.

But Chris, your facts and figures are obviously made up. They make no mention of how you order your screeners to play favorites and cater to Elite members. They also don't mention how you line your pockets with gold and wear suits made of pure money. So obviously you're full of Valentine...

Oh, I thought AB2 (a boy) was doing a 'mans' job (railroad photography). Either way: Smooth-brained FAIL!

Two of my last three got rejected*, so The Rat is getting his way! He's in the screeners' heads!!! We're all doomed!

*one overturned on appeal and the other accepted after un-dumbing the overexposed part of the image, so...

I hate to burst any bubbles here, but this quote was taken from the Site Related Forum. Proof. Iron-clad, undeniable, unretractable proof of the treatment the Elite Members get.

BTW...

Default I hate to keep this going, but.......

This one kills me.

I am a memeber of Dan V's said private westslope group (not sure for how much longer though) and finally hit my breaking point with him and his complaining.

This is his latest email in the group.

Quote:
Now, someone please tell me that thats a good image and fully deserves to be on Railpics.

Next time you people get an assinine rejection, remember this image. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=275706

Thats a screeners image. Were you rejected today so AB2 can showcase this type of garbage. Its not even close to being in focus.

E-mail Chris Starnes and Chris Kilroy and tell them that this is not right. Stand up for the time and work you put into your photography!

All I asked for was to be fairly screened. When that didn't happen, I left (with a bang).

Kimmel! Your BNSF shots were rejected so that image could get on. Chew on that for awhile!

I will now step off my soapbox.

What's worse is the ones there -- from here -- who are stooping to his level. They're wrestling with a pig in the mud..... and the pig loves it!
