Default Why did UP number 4141 that way?

The UP 4141 is the one heritage painted scheme I want to see before the others if I had my choice, but I've been wondering why they numbered it 4141. George H. W. Bush was the 41st president, of course. We all know that. So why did they not number it #41?

Also, without getting into conspiracy theories and backbiting policies, why did they paint a loco for Bush and not Clinton? Clinton, of course, was governor of Arkansas and has his library in Little Rock, presumably not too far from Jenks.

Not sure on the numbering. Maybe they wanted to keep it 4 digits. UP 41 is open though. Nobody from the outside seems to ever understand Uncle Pete

UP was a good sized donor to the Bush 2's campaign. And the GOP got some favorable fuel legislation passed for UPRR as well. Former CEO Richard Davidson and the Bush's are friends as well. I, too, was wondering too why Clinton wasn't honored with a loco from UP w/ their "Building America" campaign. His library opened in Nov 2004. Plenty of time to paint a loco for the former president. When #43 is gone, we'll have to see what happens then. UP might paint a 4343. We could have an A-A set of Bush locomotives! 4141 and 4343 back to back. I'm going out on a limb here, but I bet 4343 would derail a lot.

Sounds like someone isn't a big fan of the current Bush.

4141 is the one I want to see the most out of all the heritage units, now if W. got his own I wouldnt waste a shot on it. I would be extremely surprised if they made a Clinton unit because of all their republican ties, I would think UP would make one for Ronald Reagan as well since he is put on such a high pedistal by republicans

Read down towards where it talks about his pensions... Form your own conclusions.

If they did a 4343, it would lead a train to Mexico first time out and never come back.

4141 is one of the few special units I have not personally operated. They must keep it down in TX. We get the 1989, 1983 1996, and the Winter Olympic's fairly often, but never the 1982 1988 or the 4141.

I am suprised they havnt made units for Regan Carter and Clinton. They may just be waiting for the unit numbers to become available.

I'm surprised too, considering Republicans like to put Reagan's name on everything. But I guess the personal ties between the Bushs and UP trump general hero whorship. Given UP's GOP ties, I'm not too surprised they don't have a 4242 special shceme, but then they do have a People for the American Way unit, so they can't be too opposed to special schemes with libearl overtones.
