Definitely needs a crop, and while I don't mind the lighting much on this one, I always enjoy doing a little voodoo shadows work on the undercarriage.

It is a nice action shot with a pleasant background, becoming rare power, should make it in in some version.. I like Jim's, but it does put it TDC so not sure how that will work here, could crop a little on the bottom and add in some sky.

Speaking of bottoms, a few swimsuits in the foreground could help?

I've noticed that too-dark photos outnumber too-light ones on the web by a wide margin. In this case, IrfanView lightened maybe 1/3 to 1/2 stop.

Of course, monitors vary, but if photos by pros look good on mine, I'm happy.

I actually am using Gimp right now. And let's be clear -- not doing post processing in 2017 is not a bad of honor. At the very least, you need to crop this one

Some versions of Windows have separate highlights and shadows dials, as well as selective color enhance/desaturate. Windows 8.1 for sure. Latest versions of 10 may have a different editor.

Whatever you did emphasized the high sun look compared to Jim's edit.
If you acquire a more sophisticated editor and get comfortable with it, you might want to revisit this shot sometime.

Seriously, though, it appears you nuked the entire image when only the shadowed pilot and trucks needed to be lightened (like in my edit).

Look, legitimately it is high sun. Look at the shadows on the pilot and the fact that you can't even see the trucks.

No version of photoshop is fixing that.

Needs cropped too. Don't feel they are nitpicking it.

If you want to show that water on the right, I would recommend taking a bunch off the bottom and the left so the loco isn't centered.

Her's my take on the crop from the OP. This one puts the subject within range of ROT, and shows plenty of water, and the boats, which are the real points of interest related to the water.



Still needs highlights/levels work as suggested by others, but with those corrections, I don't think the high sun will be objectionable. With cropping that falls within RP expectations, I think this would get on.

No, its bad. Look at the trucks. See how dark they are? Its very harsh high sun. Like everyone suggested, maybe try lightening the trucks. Also I am curious, if you are off duty then why do you wear PPE when you take pictures?

I would have liked to, but apparently PS Elements 15 doesn't have that capacity. Does anyone know what the best FULL version of Photoshop is available for purchase right now?
