It looks as if there's a lot of compression and artifacts in the sky (all those little pixelated areas). If you have Photoshop, I would go in and try to smooth some of that out. That should help things. The rail is also out of focus in the foreground; I like it that way (I think it gives it a bit of an artistic edge), but the screeners may not. See what you can do with that, as well.

I like it. I thought the reflection in the rail was getting old but this is a very clever version of that theme. Next time around perhpaps a longer exposure time and a smaller apeture but you may be able to save it yet. If you can select just the sky and blur it to eliminate the pixelation. Also, you may want to work from an "unsharpened" original. Search the web for "Neat Image" which works wonders for the grain. It's free to try.

I think the main problem with the image is it has been over sharpened. The white halo around the telegraph poles give that away. Another side effect of oversharpening is it will highlight the image noise.

I ran your image through photoshop, I used Noise ninja to clean up the noise, adjusted the colours slightly and cropped it as you can see in the attached image.

It's a good sunset shot I think it would make a worthy edition to the database here. I like the atmosphere the disused telegraph poles add to the shot.

Christine.

It is a great shot, except the trees and telegrapho poles are out of focus. I think the shot was over sharpened to try and fix that. If you are using an auto focus camera, switch to manual and focus at infinity, so the trees and poles will be in focus. Use a slow shutter speed and shoot at f/16 or f/22 for maximum focus depth. Try it again the next sunset you have and you could have a real winner.

Its not a bad shot, might want to try submitting this. I reduced the noise in photoshop.

Take Care,
