A little too tight maybe? Any advice is appreciated, I have a few other images where the train has receded further into the distance

I'll let someone else answer you about the crop because I'm not good with verticals. But you might get an overexposed rejection next because of the left side of the nose and the left numberboard.

It's a tad tight, but that glare on the engineers side of the nose and numberboard (viewing left) would be a enough for them to reject it. That's usually not fixable.

Please refer to the other thread about whether the standards have changed lately or not...

Grumpy would have a field day with that glare.

From his slang glossary:

"Glarefuck - having a shot ruined by sun glare off the windshield of the locomotive"
