Default Experimenting With Billboards

This was an experiment - I'd shot off some postcard perfect frames (in perfect light) of these units and thought to myself, "Okay, now what would be the shot that shows where I was, that I used the location?"

All that was there that I could get into frame was a huge billboard, and getting it with the lead locomotive unobstructed was tough, but this was the cleanest angle.

Just curious what folks' thoughts are - not 100% for this one to get into the database, but more for getting myself into better framing.

One thought I have now, is because I couldn't get all three units cleanly, should I have changed my angle to a sharper one from the left, so that the first unit was more in the open, leaving the grey radio sled even more obscured, but making it a clearer shot of the GEEP?

Or, was it just a bad idea from the get go?

Charles;

I think it's more the other obstructions killing this location than the billboard. It's very busy with all kinds of poles and various other, well, clutter. Find another billboard, because it can work.

I do think you need the whole billboard though.

Yup.

Joe may be right also.

Come on back to Houston, Chuck; there are several locations around here that'll fit that just fine for this m/o!

Thanks, Guys...

Yeah, looking at Joe's shot it becomes very clear that I did fail. Funny that I it wasn't as clear to me when I was shooting it. I'm also not sure I could have gotten the angle I was thinking of now, due to the wires. It's a tough one, you have this great light and a nice set of power, and you want to do something interesting, but there's just nothing there to add to the shot without getting something else in the way too.

Yes, Barry - I have to admit, Houston is one heck of a railroad town - and I haven't even gotten to the shots that you took me around for. But I have to get back there.

Charles,

I agree with the previous post that the full sign needs to be there. I have shot a similar angle in the past including the whole sign, and it worked out:

Also, the wires/poles in your shot don't agree with me either. Like the idea though.
