Is it really that bad?

I know this isn't an earth shattering image but didn't expect this rejection and would like to get your opinions please.

I honestly thought even with the falling sun and the absence of life on the trees it has good interest to some viewers. Seeing enough head scratchers make it on the site has me confused as to what is desired at times and prefer to not waste my time or the screeners. I will close by saying some of my most viewed shots initially got rejections for countless reasons and I wouldn't submit them if I didn't think they were good quality.

The image quality is very bad, lots of artifacting and the ridge line is pretty messed up. Short comings of 2008 camera technology I suspect. This one should be let go, doesn't deserve to be in the database.

Perhaps the original raw image lost something in the post-processing steps. No way for viewers like us to know. I would agree with the others however, that the submitted JPEG does have IQ issues. At the very least, you'd probably want to look at the background in the original raw at 100% and decide if it is worth another go.

We've all got 'em. Shots that look good from a distance, but upon close examination, you realize it's an "almost, but not quite."

Thanks for the replies and duly noted. Kevin I am looking into that now to see what took place. I realize the budget didn't allow me to have the camera I wanted so I have to live with some flaws knowing I didn't have the glass I preferred.
