not be considered the exact same as this

Its not two different angles of a shot, its not even two different pictures. Its the same picture, cropped very slightly different.

Well, crap. I was about to explain how he cold have overlooked the fact that had already uploaded it, but he mentions the first shot in the caption for the second. That's plain stupid. I think I'll upload a very slightly different version of a few of my most popular shots and see how that plays.

Screener oversight then. I did enjoy seeing the shot again though. The 4141 is my favorite of the UP special paint schemes.

I agree, the 4141 is nice and tastefully done.

Yes, and for some reason UP thought it would be best displayed as a shop unit in Jenks, where nobody except employees can see it.

And here I thought it was deleted because I called it out in another thread for being unlevel.

The more recent one was a bit looser crop and I preferred it.

I wouldn't call this a "screener oversight" or even point fingers at anyone. The photog has 2000+ shots and probably simply was going through some old shots and forgot he had uploaded this one already, and 7 years ago. Screeners do not take the time to go through the database looking for similar shots; they only kick them out if they recall having seen one. And I wonder how much time, if any, a screener spends looking at the caption (as opposed to the remark to the screener, which I hope they do read!). That is my estimate of how the process likely works.

J., that was my first thought, too, but the photographer specifically mentioned the first shot by RP number in the caption for the second shot. He had to find the first shot while uploading the second.

The really ironic part of where the UP stored it is that it is/was in the town where the presidential library of the man who beat George H.W. Bush is.

And here I thought my "Lost Gems" idea had been adopted... though that was still a bit fresh in my mind and I was thinking "You again?".

Would've been interesting to see how well it was received compared to the original identical photo - strange how the timing of a post on RP can affect things. Who said it's location, location, location, anyway, lol.

Oh, wow. I missed that, I guess I didn't read the comment at the time. Did he say why he found the shot worthy of re-upload?

Are my eyes deceiving me or has the too-tight cropped photo been replaced with the more recent submission that was a little looser? For some reason the one showing up in the first post doesn't look as tightly cropped on the left as I recall from last night when I last looked at this thread. Or, I could be going insane.

I think you are right. In the original, the lead unit was nearly touching the left side of the frame and seemed oddly tight for an RP photo.

And the original one with the loco nearly touching the side of the frame was LEVEL.
