Default Scanning Slides

I did a quick search on this topic, and didn't yield anything.

I have a Canon CanoScan 600F. It came with a little attachment to scan negatives and slides. Should this be sufficient to scan slides (decently)? Are there any tips or tricks out there?

I have the much more modern CanoScan 9000. It is fairly useless IMO. OK for crude scans. Unless you have a photo of a train on fire full of bikini-clad women, the image quality will not be good enough for RP standards.

Thank for the advice. I don't have any slides like that, but I might be able to photoshop some!

I also have a 21c Film and Digital Slide Converter. It sounds like I should probably upgrade.
