M&NJ: Coming back
The Middletown & New Jersey railroad for the longest time has been very quiet with only a few deliveries here and there to their sole customer Genpack, which makes styrofoam products. Recently the railroad was purchased by Regional Rail of Pennsylvania, since the purchase activity has gone way up. Crossings have been opened and or repaired and almost the full length of the line is in use. Former owner Chartwell sold the last leg of the line from Slate Hill, NY to Unionville, NY and the tracks were ripped up leaving the end of the line in slate hill. The Line has many many covered hopper cars in storage now, and their grey ex-amtrak GP9 has plenty of work to do now.
