Pretty sure that's this guy:

He's the king dork of railfans, having gotten himself on tosh.0 for his antics

Thought he sounded familiar. Makes the rest of us look bad, though.

IIRC, the guy is autistic (which, let's be honest, isn't exactly uncommon in the railfan world.)

Tosh.0 is small beans compared to CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/vi...n-gag.cnn.html

And I don't care if he's autistic, he's well aware of what he's doing and I still think it's mostly contrived just to get views (and get on CNN, for that matter). Not that there is anything wrong with that, of course. If people want attention, more power to them.

Exclamation

A poor rendition of a video done by Andross51 and ExtremePadreFan.

They still set the standard for exuberant train videos.

An example....

Strange quote in video - "lets get naked and wrestle."

I think he's parlayed his 'fame' into becoming the 'mascot' of at least one or two Chicago area companies.

And yes, I would say its fairly obvious he's putting on an act. In a number of his videos he's in front of the camera and seems pretty normal (at least for a railfan). And you can't argue with his results, he is almost without a doubt the most well know railfan in America.

That just made my day, man.

I can just hear the conversation at the other end of the house:

"John, he's yelling about trains again."
"I know honey but apparently something called a Heligh Valley Marriage unit went by."

Shit like this is why I railfan alone. And usually when I run into other railfans in the wild, they tend to be like that. There are a few exceptions. I have met some really nice people while railfanning in WV and VA, including a couple people who submit here.

I cant deal with people who act like 'tards. Think what you will of me, but I am 100% normal in real life.

Lol. Trust me I understand. Yeah I enjoy watching em' but I never flipped out when I saw the heritage units I've seen. And I'm planning on a career in railroading so it's best to put myself as far away from foamers as possible.

Maybe, but there is a very wide gulf between the "functioning railfan" and people like the guy who made the video the OP posted, and people like that extremepadresfan that Bill knows...

Note my use of the word "functioning" in relation to other similar uses of that word in relation to disorders...

Define "normal". Other guys get just as bad over muscle cars, guns, off road stuff, ect. Just tell them your Alco is equal to their 69 charger lol.

I'm actively into railfanning AND drag racing my cars! I guess I'm screwed on the whole "normal" thing. Oh well...

Railfaning does cause one to drive to faraway places to watch the choo choos.
